Remembering World War 1 100 years on

The First World War (1914–1918) was one of the most significant events of the 20th Century and had a seismic impact on New Zealand society.

Ten percent of our then population of one million served overseas, of which more than 18,000 died and over 40,000 were wounded. Nearly every New Zealand family was affected.

RSA - The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association Inc.

The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association is a service organisation. It is one of the largest voluntary welfare organisations in New Zealand and one of the longest established ex-service organisations in the world.

Today over 120,000 members throughout New Zealand share a common commitment to the Crown, the Nation and the Community; dedicated to the RSA motto – ‘People Helping People’.

Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League (RCEL)

RCEL’s object is that no ex-serviceman or women should ever suffer hardship.

Funds are available for all eligible British ex-service people whether or not they are resident in the United Kingdom. Application for RCEL welfare assistance can be made by RNZRSA on behalf of individuals and is generally prompted by written request from the applicant made through a British ex-service organisation such as the Army Benevolent Fund.
